Not only do timber venetians look good, they are also an all year round insulator.
In summer, timber venetians stop the sun's rays from penetrating into a room as well as stopping the radiated heat from the glass.
In winter they stop the heat loss by acting as a barrier between the room and the chilled glass, additionally minimising the convectional air movement that lowers room temperatures.

Timber being a natural product is in fact anti-static. This means that it doesn't attract dust, as the old aluminium venetians did.

Even cleaning modern, well-finished, timber venetians is easy. For dust removal simply use a round brush head on your vacuum cleaner and tilt the blades fully one way, and vacuum. Then simply rotate the blades fully the other way and vacuum the other side.
